3. Create
Once children are familiar with the stimulus text, the teacher leads them into creating their own versions. A new subject is presented and children plan their 'big write'.
Modelled writing is then used to stage writing over a number of days so that pupils are writing texts bit by bit, applying independently what has been taught and practised- bringing all the elements together, writing effectively and accurately.
Feedback is given during the lessons and children are taught how to improve their writing.
Having completed the writing, children are encouraged to share their work with the audience identified at the beginning of the process. The opportunities to share the final pieces of work are taken wherever possible as children develop as writers and look to celebrate their achievements in every piece of work.
