2. What is the impact of science at All Saints'?
Evidence of the success of our All Saints' Approach to demonstrated in all areas i.e. in children’s science books, pupil surveys, science visits and collective worship, to name a few. The science curriculum is ambitious, broad and balanced, sparking a long-term interest in the subject from a young age, for all of our pupils.
By the end of their primary school journey at All Saints', children have become increasingly independent in science, able to select their own tools, and materials, and able to complete pupil-led investigations. Children understand scientific disciplinary knowledge and types of scientific enquiry.
Ongoing and end of unit assessments measure the impact of the curriculum. Knowledge organisers support embedding knowledge. By the end of Year 6, children will know the uses and implications of science in the wider world. They will be able to apply their scientific knowledge to real life problems and use their investigation skills to independently complete experimental work as they continue their learning journey as young scientists.
Our continuing CPD, based on lesson observations and skills audits, ensures that our teachers are up-to-date and confident providers of high quality science teaching.
Scientific understanding, as well as children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is further developed by the school’s Christian ethos and also contributes to the celebration of the school community’s cultural diversity.
