Then, reacting to the text through structured discussion and written strategies, such as visualising, connecting experiences, asking questions, forming opinions, and predicting outcomes.

These sessions provide a smooth transition from the teacher demonstrating skills to the children applying them. The teacher focuses on three key strategies to model step-by-step. Using guided practice, the teacher demonstrates how to approach different question types, highlighting techniques like scanning for keywords, underlining important information, and using context clues. Children then practice these skills with the teacher’s support, gradually gaining the confidence to apply them independently.

All children are given the opportunity to apply these skills independently, helping to identify which areas may need further improvement and providing valuable practice for assessments.
